Handmade Copper Earrings
“Crop Circles” Rectangles
Stamped & Antiqued Finish
This is a handmade stamped & antiqued “Crop Circle” Rectangle Copper Earrings. It amazes me with each new design that I do what can be created from a simple sheet of metal and some basic tools. The artist breathes life into a boring sheet of metal. It starts it’s incredible journey from sheet to become this pair of Copper Earrings.
This is a keepsake to be handed down. The story starts with the artist but continues on its own unique journey with you the customer. Do you keep it or Give it as a gift? This all becomes part of the continuing story. It is a very cool feeling to be part of that. Each piece is unique to itself the 1st time and the fifth time you make it. That is because there is no machine making it and no matter how hard I try its impossible to create 2 exactly alike. That is the beauty of handmade.
It all start with a 2 sheets of copper about 1″ x 2″. I first cut the metal into a rectangle shape.I then use what is called sharp raising hammer and put a few deep lines in the sheet. Then with a hammer I strike a series of different sizes circle punches. Use a file clean the edges and drill a hole for the ear wires. It is now ready to be finish.
Why buy from me?
Quality and your Satisfaction is my goal!
Finishing this pair of Copper Earrings is just as important as creating the piece. This is where some artist get in a hurry. They have spent all their time creating and now they want to start on the next project. I have learn this it what sets my work apart from others there is no shortcuts. I do not get in a hurry at the end. I want to make sure the buyer has a smooth snag free keepsake jewelry. I use a buffing machine and I go through a 6 step of using different finishing brushes. Once I am satisfied with the finish I then let it tumble for 12 hours to help work hard. It is now time to antique the earrings this will give the texture the black look that makes the pattern stand out. I will lightly sand the pendant to leave only the black into the stamped lines.
Ear wire is made from Niobium which is a hypoallergenic material that is great to use in jewelry designs because it is safe for anyone to wear, especially those with metal allergies. Niobium has greater strength than sterling silver.
I have spent much time perfecting my own technique for the finishing. I then seal it with a special lacquer coating used for outdoor sculpture work. If at any time the lacquer fails just simply contact me and send it back I will recoat for free.
